Professional Career Options

Choosing a professional career is a difficult and complex process. One needs to balance their own talents, abilities, and interests, with a viable career choice, while navigating a maze of programs and requirements. To help this process, the Yeshiva provides step by step guidance as needed. Before choosing a college program students are advised to consult with Rabbi Shinensky.

The Yeshiva Gedolah offers four approaches to earning a degree, and all can be completed while learning a full 1st and 2nd seder in Yeshiva. Please note: for the first semester in Yeshiva, students are asked to limit their college classes to 6 credits. The limit has been placed so that students have time to adjust to the rigors of full time learning along with high level college work.

The Yeshiva College of the Nation's Capital

The Yeshiva offers a Bachelor's in Talmudic Law degree through its fully accredited college program, The Yeshiva College of the Nation's Capital. To earn this degree, a student must earn four years of Talmud study credits, two of which can be transferred from other accredited Yeshivos. Talmidim with a BTL degree have obtained admittance to many schools and graduate programs including:

  • George Washington University
  • Georgetown University
  • John Hopkins University
  • Columbia University
  • Law Schools
  • Medical Schools
  • Master's in Education
  • Master's in Special Education
  • Master's in Business Administration
  • Master's in Counseling

University of Maryland

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers a full range of undergraduate degree programs with a schedule that allows our talmidim to still learn a full 1st and 2nd seder in yeshiva. UMUC accepts a number of the Yeshiva’s BTL credits, offers College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, and almost all classes can be completed online. The time for degree completion varies by major because Yeshiva and CLEP credits cannot be substituted for foundation courses. Students who take 2-3 classes per week including summers can complete their degree in 2 - 3 ½ years.

Excelsior College

Testing and Training International will compile the 120 credits needed to graduate, from yeshiva credits, CLEP exams, self study exams, and correspondence courses.

The following undergraduate programs are available:

Liberal Arts degree with a major in English, Math, History, or Psychology. (approx 1.5 – 2 years for completion)
Accounting (approx 4 years for degree, 5th year for CPA requirements)
General Business (approx 3 years)

For example the degree in business is earned through:

  • 30 Yeshiva credits
  • 33 from tests
  • 6 math
  • 3 english
  • 1 info literature
  • 47 business credits

Besides the expedited and flexible class format, a major benefit of this program is that the total cost from TTI is $8,000 - $12,000 for the entire degree. In addition students have a personal advisor to help guide them through the entire process.

Dickinson University

FDU offers a BAIS degree which is a Bachelors of Arts in Individualized Studies. For this degree, FDU will accept approx 70 of our Yeshiva credits and 18 CLEP credits, requiring only an additional 30 credits for the degree. The benefit of this program is that degrees can be completed in as little as 18 months.
